چکیده

Background Quantitative myocardial T2 mapping allows non-invasive assessment of myocardial inflammation/edema [1]. Current implementations commonly use a T2-prepared (T2prep) SSFP sequence to acquire different T2 weighted images at different echo times to generate the T2 maps [2,3]. However, all current techniques are designed for single slice acquisition with long rest cycles (3-6 sec) after each T2prep image acquisition to allow for full spin recovery. This markedly increases the overall scan time, especially if multiple slices are to be acquired in serial. In this study, we propose a novel multi-slice T2 mapping sequence, which uses slice-selective T2prep pulses combined with an interleaved slice acquisition scheme to provide a fast multi-slice T2 mapping.

Reproducibility of slice-interleaved myocardial T2 mapping sequences

Background Myocardial T2 mapping sequence allows quantitative assessment of myocardial edema and inflammation. Commonly, a series of T2 weighted images with steadystate free-precession (SSFP) are acquired after T2 magnetization preparation (T2Prep) with different echo times. Conventionally, a single slice per breath-hold is acquired to image one single slice. Because inflammation/edema is often...

Free-breathing myocardial T1 mapping using magnetization-prepared slice interleaved spoiled gradient echo imaging

Background Quantitative myocardial T1 mapping and extracellular volume fraction (ECV) show promise for non-invasive assessment of cardiomyopathies. Most available T1 mapping sequences use a single slice breath-hold acquisition with balanced steady state free precession (b-SSFP) readout [1]. However, b-SSFP readout is sensitive to B0 field inhomogeneity and is potentially T2 dependent [1]. In th...

Evaluation of a free-breathing myocardial T1 mapping using magnetization-prepared slice interleaved spoiled gradient echo imaging in patient

Background Quantitative myocardial T1 mapping shows promise for assessment of various cardiomyopathies. Most available sequences are generally acquired within a breath-hold using a balanced SSFP (bSSFP) imaging readout. However, the signal obtained from a bSSFP imaging readout is T2 dependent, sensitive to magnetization transfer and has increased susceptibility to the B0 field inhomogeneity lea...

Simultaneous Quantitation of T1 and T2 Using a Novel 2D Magnetization-Prepared Multi-Slice Pulse Sequence

Introduction In recent years numerous approaches for the efficient, accurate and simultaneous quantitation of T1, T2, and M0 have been proposed – Ref 1 and 2 among them. Indeed, growing interest in generating synthetic MR images [2] and in “quantitative” tissue characterization continues to drive technical developments in MR relaxometry. Here we propose a novel 2D multi-slice pulse sequence tha...

Free-breathing multislice native myocardial T1 mapping using the slice-interleaved T1 (STONE) sequence.

PURPOSE To develop a novel pulse sequence for free-breathing, multislice, native myocardial T1 mapping. METHODS The slice-interleaved T1 (STONE) sequence consists of multiple sets of single-shot images of different slices, acquired after a single nonselective inversion pulse. Each slice is only selectively excited once after each inversion pulse to allow sampling of the unperturbed longitudin...
